# Starknet wallets

> One wallet with public and private balances.

Your Starknet wallet has two sections: **Public** for assets held at its onchain address, and **Private** for supported assets held in the privacy pool.

They are different balances. Having public USDC does not mean you have private USDC, or the other way around.

## Move between balances

Use the wallet's **Send** button and choose the source and destination:

| From → to | Result |
| - | - |
| Public → Public | Send to a normal Starknet address. |
| Public → Private | Put supported assets into the private balance. Often called shielding. |
| Private → Private | Send from the pool to a supported private recipient. |
| Private → Public | Withdraw from the pool to a public address. Often called unshielding. |

Chat works too:

> Move 10 USDC from my public balance to my private balance.

## Swap

Both AVNU and Ekubo support [public and private swaps through Chance](/privacy/swaps). The chosen balance determines where the swap starts and where the result returns.

## First use

The wallet may need activation before its first transaction. Chance prepares this where supported. The actual route determines whether activation or network fees are sponsored; private relay fees are quoted separately.

To arrive privately from another chain, use the [USDC privacy bridge](/privacy/bridge). It does not first credit your regular public Starknet balance.
